SLIPKNOT's JOEY JORDISON Dreams Of SLAYER Gig

December 20, 2002

The surprising commercial success of SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor's STONE SOUR project has led to much speculation with regards to his status in SLIPKNOT and the possibility that he may leave the group to focus on STONE SOUR full-time (which Taylor has thus far denied).

When recently asked by Australia's Metalshop if the rest of the group would continue in the event that Corey chose to take no further part in the band, SLIPKNOT drummer Joey Jordison replied, "No! If Corey decided to leave, I would give him my blessing and say, 'Hey man, we had a good time, but I ain't doing the band without you.' I couldn't do it without seeing fucking Corey Taylor up there as the lead singer."

With Taylor recently predicting that the band's upcoming studio album — tentatively due in late 2003/early 2004 — would be the group's last, there has been much discussion about what paths the individual members may choose to take in their post-SLIPKNOT days. For Jordison, at least, it appears that his current project, MURDERDOLLS, the glam/party rock band in which he plays guitar, would not be his only focus.

"It would [be] for a while, but I have spent a lot of my life perfecting my drumming, so how the hell could I give that up?" Joey explained. "I would definitely want to join another band, and preferably an already established band."

When pressed to identify a particular act that he would like to join in the event that SLIPKNOT ceased to exist, Joey said, "I know Dave [Lombardo]'s back in SLAYER, but that would be a fuckin' dream come true. Kerry's a good friend of mine, and if Dave decided to leave, that's the gig that I would want."
